This is just too cool, whether you're seven or 97!!! Metropolis is tiny, with a GIANT statue of Superman in front of city hall. The Chamber of Commerce is also an ice cream store with appropriate gifts - knowledgeable and friendly.
So much history here on the Ohio river. Can't wait to go back.
The statue is cool and neat to take pics with. Mostly just that and 2 shops to visit though. It would be better if there was more going on in the area.
Awesome tribute to superman. Great fun. Well worth a quick hop off the highway. The town of metropolis was so much fun. Lots of history. A most unexpected delight. Stopped for a pit stop and stayed for 2 days.. Don't miss the The blue bridge and the Kincaid mounds ( the US equivalent of the pyramids)
It's a really cool and unique giant statue! It's fun to take pictures with it. The last time I was there the town put eclipse glasses on Superman to celebrate the 2017 eclipse. It's worth a visit if you are near the town.
This was a lot of fun to visit. It is a few miles off the interstate, but is easy to get to. I saw two gift shops nearby, featuring various souvenirs and t-shirts as well as lots of collectibles. Visiting the statue is free and there was plenty of parking on the street nearby on a Sunday afternoon.
There is a great gift shop a half block away, with the phone booth, of course!!! Also a statue of the actress who played Lois Lane. It's close to the freeway and you're crazy if you pass this one up!!!!
